Context
In an analytical project commissioned by the Jabatan Pendidikan Khas (JPK), part of Brunei's Ministry of Education, I scrutinized the gender distribution among 2,505 students enrolled in special education programs. My findings pointed to a pronounced gender gap: males accounted for a striking 74% of the cohort, with females making up the remaining 26%.

Approach
Employing R Studio, I crafted a distinct and professional chart that effectively presents this distribution. I meticulously selected a palette of pastel hues to delineate each diagnostic category, thereby ensuring that the visualization was not only aesthetically pleasing but also readily interpretable.

Key Findings
A notable aspect of this study was the exploration of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) prevalence. Medical literature typically cites an ASD occurrence ratio of 1 female for every 3 males. Remarkably, my analysis showed that in Brunei, the ratio of students impacted by ASD is even more skewed than global averages, suggesting a higher incidence rate.

Conclusion
Concluding the investigation, I observed that while the global prevalence of ASD stands at 1 in 60 individuals, Brunei's rate is more concentrated at 1 in 55. Given Brunei's unique demographic context as a genetically isolated country, this heightened prevalence may hint at genetic factors influencing the incidence of ASD. My research underscores the necessity for a deeper examination into genetic contributions to ASD within Brunei and calls for tailored approaches to education and intervention in the realm of special education.
